Three Woman Who Have Been Appointed to Diversity Posts in Higher Education

Melissa González, has agreed to serve as interim chief diversity officer for the 2023-24 academic year at Davidson College in North Carolina. She is a professor of Hispanic studies at the college and is chair of the gender and sexuality studies programs.

Dr. González is a graduate of Columbia University in New York City, where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Latin American and Iberian cultures from Columbia.

Emily Glodzik was named coordinator of diversity, equity, and inclusion at the Scranton campus of Pennsylvania State University. She has worked in the bursar’s office at Penn State Scranton for the past eight years, and in 2020, she was recruited to also fill the bursar’s position at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, becoming the first dual-campus bursar in the Penn State system.

In 2010, Glodzik received her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Temple University in Philadelphia

Aja Rodriguez is the new director of diversity, equity, and inclusion at Maryville College in Tennessee. She was the director of engagement and advocacy and the Title IX officer at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi.

Rodriguez is a graduate of Maryville College, where she majored in writing communication and theater. She holds a master’s degree in higher education student affairs from Texas State University.
