Nine Women Who Are Taking on New Administrative Duties in Higher Education

Anastasia Rodriguez is the new vice president for administration and finance at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. She has been serving as controller at Jacksonville State University in Alabama.

Rodriguez holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and an MBA, all from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Vicki Flippin was named associate dean for student affairs at Yale Divinity School. Sincce 2018, she has been the pastor of the First & Summerfield United Methodist Church in New Haven, Connecticut. She has aslo served as director of Methodist Studies Certificate Program at the Divinity School.

Rev. Flippin is a graduate of the University of Chicago, where she majored in South Asian languages and civilization. She holds a master of divinity degree from Yale University.

Toniette Haynes Robinson has been named the inaugural associate dean of special academic programs at North Lake Campus within the Dallas College system.  Dr. Robinson has previously served in roles within the Tarrant County College District, Austin Community College District as well as Dallas College.

Dr. Robinson holds a bachelor’s degree in communication studies, a bachelor’s degree in ethnic studies, and a Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy from the University of Texas at Austin. She also earned a master’s degree in college student development from St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas.

Amanda Lincoln has been appointed interim vice president of university advancement and executive director of the Southeast Missouri University Foundation. She joined the university staff in 2006 and since 2012, she has been a director of development for the foundation.

Lincoln is a graduate of Southeast Missouri University, where she majored in mass communication and media studies.

Rachelle L. Williams is the new director of alumni engagement and annual giving at Talladega College in Alabama. She previously served as an associate faculty member at the University of Phoenix campus in Washington, D.C. Earlier, she was an instructor in the African American studies and women’s studies departments at the University of Maryland College Park and the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Williams earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Talladega College. She holds a master’s degree in women’s studies from the University of Maryland College Park, and a master of fine arts degree in narrative media writing from the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia.

Kathleen Shields Anderson was appointed vice president for the department of public safety at the University of Pennsylvania. She joined the department in 2012 as chief of staff and executive director of operations. Shields-Anderson is a former prosecutor for the city of Philadelphia.

Shields-Anderson is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. She earned an MBA at Temple University in Philadelphia and a juris doctorate at Villanova University in Pennsylvania.

Sandy Lyall is the new director of the Employee Assistance Program in the division of finance and administration at Florida State University. Lyall most recently served as a senior consultant at Mass General Brigham in Boston, where she provided clinical counseling services and managed the peer support program.

Lyall is a graduate of the State University of New York at Fredonia. She earned a master’s degree in counseling sloychology from Springfield College in Massachusetts.

Mary Messina Remmler has been promoted to senior vice president and chief financial officer at the University of Delaware. She had been serving as vice president for strategic planning and analysis at the university. Before coming to the University of Delaware in 2016, Remmler was associate vice president for academic budget and financial planning at Stony Brook University in New York.

Remmler holds a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in management policy, both from Stony Brook University.

Gaëtane Verna was appointed executive director of the Wexner Center for the Arts at Ohio State University. Since 2012, she has been director and artistic director at The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery in Toronto. Earlier, she was executive director and chief curator of the Musée d’art de Joliette, one of Quebec’s largest art museums, from 2006 to 2012.

Verna is a graduate of Concordia University in Montreal. She holds a master’s degree in art history from the Sorbonne in Paris.
