Colleges and Universities Announce the Appointment of Ten Women to Administrative Positions

Lisa Mahle-Grisez was named associate dean of academic affairs at Clermont College of the University of Cincinnati. She was dean of liberal arts, communication, and social sciences at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio.

Dr. Mahle-Grisez earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from the University of Dayton. She holds a Ph.D. in composition and rhetoric from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Debra Clark Jones has been named associate vice president for community health for the Duke University Health System. She will begin her new role on October 25. Jones has been serving as vice president for university advancement, external affairs, and technology at Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh.

Jones is a graduate of Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina, where she majored in computer science. She holds a master’s degree in data analytics from the University of Maryland.

Melissa Telles was appointed director of admissions at Fontbonne University in St. Louis. Since 2011, she was associate director of admissions at Western Michigan University.

Telles holds a bachelor’s degree in agriculture with an agricultural business concentration and minors in management and international relations from Western Illinois University. She earned a master’s degree in agricultural economics from the University of Tennessee.

Andaiye Qaasim is the new assistant director of the African American Cultural Center on the campus of North Carolina State University. She is a former student engagement manager at Green River College in Auburn, Washington.

Dr. Qaasim is a graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta, where she majored in music and history. She holds a Ph.D. in the anthropology of music from the University of Pennsylvania.

Tamara Herdener was appointed associate vice president for student development at the University of Portland in Oregon. She managed strategic initiatives and projects for the Division of Student Affairs at Oregon State University.

Herdener is a graduate of Seattle University, where she majored in political science. She holds a juris doctorate from Notre Dame Law School in Indiana.

Angelica Witcher has been named assistant dean for student vitality at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in Roanoke. As assistant dean, she will continue to serve in her current role of administrative director of student affairs.

Dr. Witcher holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Virginia. She earned an MBA from Averett University in Danville, Virginia, and a doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies from Virginia Tech.

Pam Jones was appointed associate vice chancellor for health and wellness at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. Since 2014, she has served as senior associate dean for clinical and community partnerships at the university’s School of Nursing.

Dr. Jones earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing and a doctor of nursing practice degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing.

Kelly Holder is the new chief wellness officer at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She was the director of the Office for Professional Mental Health at the College of Medicine at Pennsylvania State University.

Dr. Holder is a graduate of Oakwood University in Alabama, where she majored in biochemistry. She earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Loma Linda University in California.

Tracey J. Wischmeyer has been appointed as director of annual giving and stewardship at Franklin College in Indiana. Most recently, she served at the Indiana University Foundation as the director of development campus-wide initiatives for Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis.

Wischmeyer earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in visual communication from Indiana University. She holds an MBA from the University of Indianapolis.

Shanita Pettaway has been hired as Title IX coordinator for the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. She has been serving as a contracts manager and deputy Title IX coordinator at Columbus State University in Georgia.

Dr. Pettaway holds a Ph.D. in higher education administration from Auburn University in Alabama. She earned a juris doctorate from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
