Ramapo College of New Jersey Names Cynthia R. Jebb as Its Fifth President

The board of trustees of Ramapo College of New Jersey in Mahwah has selected Cindy R. Jebb as the fifth president of the educational institution. She will begin her tenure as president on July 6.

Ramapo College of New Jersey enrolls more than 5,500 undergraduate students and slightly less than 600 graduate students, according to the most recent data available from the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 56 percent of the undergraduate student body.

“I am honored, humbled, and thrilled to have the opportunity to serve the Ramapo community,” Dr. Jebb said. “I am inspired by the college’s mission of education, grounded in the liberal arts, and I deeply admire the passion, commitment, and talents of everyone I have met towards dignity and respect, character-building, and a student-focused powerful learning environment. All that is at stake in our nation and our world puts Ramapo’s mission and values in sharp focus, and I look forward to partnering with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the greater Ramapo community as together we chart the future.”

Dr. Jebb has been serving as dean of the academic board and professor of comparative politics at the United States Military Academy at West Point. She is retiring as a brigadier general in the United States Army after 39 years of service.

Dr. Jebb is a graduate of the United States Military Academy. She holds a master’s degree in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in political science from Duke Univerity in Durham, North Carolina.
