Three Women Who Have Been Selected to Serve as Deans at Universities

Angela Grube will be the next dean of the College of Business at Western Carolina Univerity in Cullowhee, North Carolina. She is a professor of sports management and has served on the university’s faculty for 20 years. She served as director of the School of Accounting, Finance, Information Systems and Business Law from January 2015 through August 2019.

Dr. Grube holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management and a master of public administration degree from Georgia College and State University. She earned a master’s degree in sport management from Georgia Southern University and a doctorate in sport management from Florida State University.

LaKeisha L. Harris has been appointed dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne. Dr. Harris joined the department of rehabilitation faculty in 2006. In 2018 she was appointed interim associate vice president for research.

Dr. Harris received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Bowie State University in Maryland. She holds a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and a Ph.D. in rehabilitation counselor education from the University of Iowa.

Colleen G. Koch has been named the tenth dean of the University of Florida College of Medicine. When she takes office on January 11, she will be the first woman dean in the college’s 64-year history. Dr. Koch has been serving as a professor and chair of the department of anesthesiology and critical care medicine at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Prior to joining Johns Hopkins in 2014 to lead its anesthesiology department, Koch practiced at the Cleveland Clinic for 22 years.

Dr. Koch earned a master’s degree in clinical research design and statistical analysis from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. She holds a medical doctorate from the University of Cincinnati.
