Sandra Boham Named the Tribal College and University Honoree of the Year by the American Indian College Fund

Sandra Boham, president of Salish Kootenai College in Pablo, Montana, was selected as the Tribal College and University Honoree of the Year by the American Indian College Fund.

Salish Kootenai College is located on the Flathead Indian Reservation in northwest Montana. It will offer a four-year nursing curriculum beginning in the fall of 2020. Salish Kootenai College will be the first tribal college or university to offer a four-year bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Before being named president of Salish Kootenai College in February 2016, she served the college as academic vice president. Earlier in her career, she taught Indian studies at Humboldt State University and the College of the Redwoods in California. She also served as the director of Indian education for the Great Falls School District in Montana, and at the Montana Department of Corrections as the education director for women.

A member of the confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, Dr. Boham earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology and an educational doctorate from the University of Montana. She also holds a master’s degree in adult and higher education from Montana State University.
