Marcia White Appointed to Lead the College of St. Rose in Albany, New York

Marcia White has been named the interim president of the College of St. Rose in Albany, New York. White will lead the private college while it looks for a replacement for the outgoing president Carolyn Stefanco, who is leaving in June. The interim appointment is scheduled to last for 12 to 18 months.

The College of St. Rose enrolls nearly 2,5000 undergraduate students and nearly 1,500 graduate students, according to the latest data supplied to the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 67 percent of the undergraduate student body.

White, who is a graduate of the college, has served on the college’s board of trustees for 18 years. From 2005 to 2016, White was the president of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

In accepting the appointment, White said that “Saint Rose offered me an affordable, exceptional education and an opportunity for the intellectual pursuit of the ideals of spirituality and knowledge. During this time of uncertainty, I will draw upon the most important lesson from that education – the power of prayer. It is the one thing in which we can have full faith and confidence.”
