The board of trustees at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois, has announced Beverly Rodgers will serve as the educational institution’s 17th president. She will serve a two-year term. The college will begin a search for her successor in 2020.
MacMurray College enrolls about 550 students, according to the latest data supplied to the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 48 percent of the student body.
Dr. Rogers has been serving as acting president for the past two months. Since 2017, she has served as provost and vice president of academic affairs. Previously, Dr. Rodgers was dean of the School of Arts and Sciences and professor of anthropology at Ottawa University in Kansas. Earlier, she served as vice president at Leech Lake Tribal College in Cass Lake, Minnesota, and was a professor and chair of the Arthur Morgan Fellows at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
In accepting the appointment, Dr. Rogers stated that “MacMurray is special, its legacy is historic, the MacMurray family (MacFam) are incredible, and I look forward to moving this college forward in alignment with the long-term strategic plan.”
President Rodgers is a graduate of Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, where she majored in sociology. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in anthropology from Ohio State University.
