Two Scholarly Women Appointed to Positions as Deans

Dominique Ayesha Robinson has been named dean of the Chapel at Wiley College in Marshall, Texas. She has previously worked as a contributing editor to Harvest magazine, a national web-based Christian publication. She has also held leadership roles for the Academy of Preachers, a national organization that advocates and equips young preachers. She is the author of Unspoken Praise: A Manual of Liturgical-Praise Dance (2011).

Dr. Robinson holds a bachelor’s degree in government and psychology from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., a master of divinity degree and a master of theology both from Emory University in Atlanta, and a doctor of ministry degree from Columbia Theological Seminary. She will begin studying for a Ph.D. in African American preaching and sacred rhetoric at the Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis in January 2020.

Gretchen Galbraith was appointed dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at the State University of New York at Potsdam. She was associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. Dr. Galbraith joined the faculty at Grand Valley State in 1992 as an assistant professor of history. She was promoted to full professor in 2015. Professor Galbraith chaired the history department at the university for four years.

A native of Burlington, Vermont, Professor Galbraith earned a bachelor’s degree at Connecticut College. She holds a Ph.D. in European and women’s history from Rutgers University in New Jersey.
