Nine Women Appointed to Positions as Deans

Kelley Bidle has been named dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Rider University in Lawrence Township, New Jersey. She is a biology professor who currently serves as the college’s associate dean.

Dr. Bidle is a graduate of Rutgers University in New Jersey, where she majored in biology. She holds a Ph.D. in molecular and cell biology from the University of Maryland.

Laura Vosejpka has been named dean and CEO of Helena College in Montana. She was the founding dean of the College of Sciences and Liberal Arts at Kettering University in Flint, Michigan.

Dr. Vosejpka is a graduate of Ohio State University where she double-majored in chemistry and English. She holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Lynn Cooley has been appointed to a second term as dean of the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences at Yale University. She is the C.N.H. Long Professor of Genetics and professor of cell biology and molecular, cellular, and developmental biology. She has been a Yale faculty member since 1989.

Dr. Cooley is a graduate of Connecticut College, where she majored in zoology. She holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Texas.

Susan Hubbard has been named dean of the College of Human Sciences at Auburn University in Alabama. She has been a member of the college’s faculty since 1993, most recently serving as associate dean for academic affairs.

Dr. Hubbard holds a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and doctorate in vocational and adult education with an emphasis in higher education administration all from Auburn University.

Nicola Boothe Perry has been named interim dean of the College of Law at Florida A&M University. She has been a faculty member at the law school since 2004 and currently serves as a full professor and associate dean for academic affairs.

Professor Perry is a graduate of the University of Florida. She holds a juris doctorate from Florida State University.

Penny Hammrich has been named dean of the School of Education at Drexel University in Philadelphia. She is a professor and has been serving as interim dean since August 2018. She previously served as associate dean of academic affairs and graduate studies.

Dr. Hammrich is a graduate of South Dakota State University where she majored in biology and education. She holds a master’s degree in biology and genetics from Minnesota State University and a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction with a concentration in science education from the University of Minnesota.

Kimberly Gaiters has been named dean of the Evelyn Reid Syphax School of Education at Virginia Union University. She was dean of academic affairs at Ferrum College in Virginia.

Dr. Gaiters holds three degrees from Albany State University in Georgia; a bachelor’s degree in English, a master of education degree in special education and teaching, and an education specialist degree in educational leadership and administration. She also holds a doctorate in curriculum studies from Georgia Southern University.

Teresa Garrett has been named dean and vice president of academic affairs at Sweet Briar College in Virginia. She currently serves as a professor of chemistry and associate dean at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Dr. Garrett is a summa cum laude graduate of Florida State University, where she majored in biochemistry. She holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

Ann Goodman has been named dean of students at New Mexico State University. She most recently served as associate director for the department of student activities at Texas A&M University.

Dr. Goodman holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education and recreation and a master’s degree in educational administration with an emphasis in higher education both from New Mexico State University, and a Ph.D. in agricultural leadership education and communication from Texas A&M University.

Two Women Selected for Key Interim Leadership Roles with the Universities of Wisconsin

Renée Wachter, chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Superior, has been selected to serve as interim president of the Universities of Wisconsin. Maria Cuzzo, provost of UW-Superior, will serve as the university's interim chancellor while Dr. Wachter assumes her new responsibilities.
