Nine Women Who Have Been Appointed to Administrative Posts at Colleges and Universities

Beth Hammock has been named executive director of marketing and communication at Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri. She is the owner of a digital marketing agency, Show-Me Digital, and a development consulting firm, Beth Hammock Philanthropy.

Hammock holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Ann Marie Russell has been named associate provost for data and analytics at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She was the director of institutional research at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.

Dr. Russell is a magna cum laude graduate from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree in social psychology and a Ph.D. in psychology and social policy both from Princeton University in New Jersey.

Grace Calhoun has been named the incoming chair of the NCAA Division I Council. She is the director of athletics and recreation at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Calhoun is a magna cum laude graduate of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where she majored in electrical engineering. She holds an MBA from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and a master’s degree in exercise science and a Ph.D. in higher education administration both from the University of Florida.

Fatima Rodriguez Johnson was appointed the inaugural associate dean for diversity and inclusion at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. She was assistant dean of students for multicultural programs and services at the State University of New York at Geneseo.

Johnson is a graduate of the State University of New York at Fredonia, where she majored in sociology. She earned a master’s degree in higher education administration at Canisius College.

Stacy Giwa has been named vice president of ethics and compliance at the University of Southern California. She was a partner at Ernst & Young.

Giwa is a graduate of San Diego State University. She holds a juris doctorate from the Pepperdine University School of Law in California.

Dwala Toombs has been named director for the Mid-Atlantic Higher Education Recruitment Consortium and diversity outreach for George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She previously worked for university’s human resources and payroll departments.

Toombs is a graduate of Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, where she majored in business administration, management, and operations.

Ruby Z. Shellaway has been named vice chancellor, general counsel, and university secretary at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. She had been serving as interim general counsel since July 2018 and earlier was deputy general counsel.

Shellaway is a summa cum laude graduate of Amherst College in Massachusetts where she double majored in economics and law and jurisprudence and social thought. She earned a juris doctorate at Yale Law School.

Lisa Bryan-Morris has been named chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care services at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Passavant. She has been with UMPC since 2000, most recently serving as director of nursing at UMPC Passavant.

Bryan-Morris holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in nursing from Waynesburg College in Pennsylvania.

Danyelle Gary has been named senior director of university marketing and communications at Albany State University in Georgia. She has been an administrator at the university since 2013 including serving as interim director of media relations, interim director of university communications, and a public relations specialist.

Gary holds a bachelor’s degree in print journalism from Hampton University in Virginia and a master’s degree in communication arts from Valdosta State University in Georgia.
