Wendy Raymond Appointed the Sixteenth President of Haverford College in Pennsylvania

Wendy Raymond has been named the sixteenth president of Haverford College in Pennsylvania. The school enrolls just under 1,300 students, 52 percent of whom are women. Dr. Raymond will begin her new role on July 1, 2019.

Dr. Raymond began her career in higher education as an assistant professor of biology at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, in 1994. She taught at Williams for 19 years and was promoted to the rank of full professor. Additionally, she served as program director of an undergraduate science education program at Williams. In 2007, Dr. Raymond became the inaugural associate dean for institutional diversity at the college. In 2013, Dr. Raymond was hired for her current position as vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty at Davidson College in North Carolina.

Throughout her career, Dr. Raymond has won several awards for her teaching and leadership, including the Harvard Danforth Center Teaching Award and the Williams College Faculty Member of the Year. She has also been named the Faculty Member of the Year twice by the Williams College Minority Coalition, Multicultural Center, and Davis Center. She served on the national Committee on Equal Opportunities in Science and Engineering from 2010 to 2016, including serving as chair from 2014 to 2016.

Dr. Raymond is a magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Cornell University where she majored in chemistry. She earned her Ph.D. in biochemistry from Harvard University.
