A Quartet of Women in New Faculty Positions at Major Universities

Pajarita Charles is a new assistant professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was a research scientist in the School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago.

Dr. Charles is a graduate of Stony Brook University in New York, where she majored in social sciences. She holds a master of social work degree and a master of public administration degree from Columbia University and a Ph.D. in social work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Daphne A. Bascom was appointed professor of biomedical and health informatics at the School of Medicine of the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She had been serving as senior vice president of community integrated health for the YMCA of Greater Kansas City.

Dr. Bascom is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She holds a Ph.D. in physiological sciences from the University of Oxford in England.

Rena Robinson was named an associate professor of chemistry at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. She was on the chemistry department faculty at the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Robinson is a graduate of the University of Louisville. She earned a Ph.D. in chemistry at Indiana University and did postdoctoral research at the University of Kentucky.

Miriam Rocah was named Distinguished Fellow in Criminal Justice at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University in New York. She will teach and coordinate conferences on public corruption and other topics. Rocah is a former assistant U.S. Attorney and was an adjunct professor at Fordham University.

Professor Rocah is a graduate of Harvard University and the New York University School of Law.
