Albany State University in Georgia has announced the appointment of four new deans. Three of the new deans are women.
Rani George was named dean of the College of Arts and Humanities. She has been serving as interim dean of the college. Dr. George is a professor of statistics and research methods in the department of criminal justice. Dr. George earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Madras in India. She earned a second master’s degree in applied human development and a Ph.D. in measurement, statistics, and evaluation from the University of Delaware.
Kerri Johnson was appointed dean of the Darton College of Health Professions. She has served as interim dean. Dr. Johnson was the director of the physical therapist assistant program at Darton State College, which has merged into Albany State University. Dr. Johnson holds a master’s degree in physical therapy from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. She earned a doctor of physical therapy degree from Temple University in Philadelphia.
Rhonda Porter is the new interim dean of the College of Education. She is a professor of mathematics education and the interim chair of the department of teacher education at the university. Dr. Porter is a graduate of Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, where she majored in mathematics education. She holds a master’s degree in education from Columbus State University in Georgia and a second master’s degree in applied mathematics and a Ph.D. in mathematics education from Auburn University in Alabama.
Dr. Cautin, provost of Sacred Heart University in Connecticut, brings over two decades of higher education experience to her new role as president of Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts. She is slated to begin her presidency on July 1.
John Cabot University is a private American University based in Rome, Italy. Dr. Maioni, currently a professor at McGill University in Canada, is slated to become John Cabot's first woman president on July 1.
The Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities is a national organization that supports Jesuit higher education institutions in the United States, Belize, and Canada. Dr. Murray, who currently serves as senior vice president for student development and mission at the College of the Holy Cross, is slated to become the association's next president on June 2.
Dr. Slater comes to her new role from Marist University in Poughkeepsie, New York, where she has been serving as senior associate provost, dean of science, and professor of biology.
Dr. Peña brings over three decades of higher education experience to her new role as president and CEO of the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education. Her background includes key leadership roles with several universities across the country.
