Six Women Hired to the Faculty at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts

clark_university_sealClark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, has hired nine new faculty members. Six of the appointees are women.

naomi_fisherNaomi Fisher was appointed an assistant professor of philosophy. Her research is focused on Kant, nineteenth-century philosophy, and the philosophy of science. Dr. Fisher is a graduate of Biola University in La Miranda, California, where she majored in physics. She holds a master’s degree in physics from the University of California, Davis and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.

gilmore_photoElizabeth Gilmore was hired as an associate professor of international development. She will begin teaching at Clark University in the fall of 2017. Dr. Gilmore has been serving as an assistant professor of public policy at the University of Maryland. Dr. Gilmore holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemical and environmental engineering from the University of Toronto. She earned Ph.D. in engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

marcelo_photo_rAna Kamille Marcelo is a new assistant professor of psychology. One of the subjects of her research is ethnic identity in early childhood, particularly as related to encounters with bias and discrimination. Dr. Marcelo holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and law and society and a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of California, Riverside.

carmen_ocon_headshotCarmen Ocón is an associate professor of practice in the Adam Institute for Urban Teaching and School Practice. Dr. Ocón’s interests include educational policy, critical literacy, and sociocultural representations inside urban classrooms. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Ocón earned an educational doctorate at the University of Illinois.

scogginsSuzanne E. Scoggins was named an assistant professor of political science. She is working on a book about China with the tentative title, Policing in the Shadow of Protest. Dr. Scoggins is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia. She holds a master’s degree in international and public affairs from the University of Hong Kong and a Ph.D. in political science from the University of California, Berkeley.

yoonKyunghee Yoon, is a new assistant professor in the Graduate School of Management at Clark University. Her research focuses on auditing and nonfinancial reporting. Dr. Yoon holds a Ph.D. in accounting and information systems from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
