The investigation was prompted by complaints filed by two women students who claimed that they were forced to endure a sexually hostile environment on campus. One of the women alleged that she was sexually assaulted in a campus vehicle by a university police officer. Overall, the Department of Education investigated more than 40 incidents over a five-year period.
The investigation found that the university failed to “promptly and equitably respond to complaints of sexual violence, including sexual assault.”
Frostburg State University agreed to a resolution of the complaint. A copy of the resolution agreement can be found here.
