Nancy Reichert, a professor of biological sciences at Mississippi State University, was named president-elect of the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology. After serving as president-elect, Dr. Reichert will become the 45th president of the council, which was established in 1972. Professor Reichert has taught at Mississippi State for 26 years.
Dr. Reichert is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she majored in bacteriology. She holds a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of New Mexico.
Charlene Winters, a professor in the College of Nursing at Montana State University in Missoula, was elected president of the Western Institute of Nursing. She will serve a two-year term. The institute is based in Portland, Oregon.
Dr. Winters said that “serving as president is a wonderful opportunity to be involved in an organization that engages researchers, educators, and practitioners. Ultimately our works comes down to improving outcomes for patients, and improving health for communities and populations.”

Dodson, an associate professor of pediatric otolaryngology at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, was elected as the first woman president of the Virginia Society of Otolaryngology. The society, which was established 96 years ago, includes physicians who treat patients with diseases and disorders of the ear, nose, and throat.
Dr. Dodson earned her medical degree at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
