Four Women Hired to the Faculty of the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University

The School of Information Studies at Syracuse University in New York has announced the hiring of five new faculty members. Four of the five new hires are women.
Rachel Ivy Clarke is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach. She holds a master of library and information science degree from San Jose State University in California and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in information science from the University of Washington. She is the former cataloging librarian at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles.
Ingrid Erickson has served as an assistant professor of library and information science in the School of Communication and Information at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Earlier, she was a research fellow at the Social Science Research Council in Brooklyn, New York. She will join the Syracuse University faculty for the spring 2017 semester. Dr. Erickson holds a Ph.D. in management science and engineering from Stanford University.
Caroline Haythornthwaite was a professor and director of the School of Library, Archival, and Information Studies at the University of British Columbia in Canada. Before joining the faculty there in 2010, Dr. Haythornthwaite taught at the University of Illinois. Dr. Haythornthwaite is a graduate of Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario. She earned two master’s degrees and a Ph.D. at the University of Toronto.
Lu Xiao was an associate professor of library and information science and an associate professor of computer science at the University of Western Ontario. She is a graduate of Hunan University in China, where she majored in chemical engineering. Dr. Xiao earned a master’s degree in computer engineering at the University of Florida and a Ph.D. in information science and technology from Pennsylvania State University.
