Four Women Promoted to Full Professor at Wesleyan University in Connecticut

200px-Wesleyan_University_Shield.svgWesleyan University, the highly rated liberal arts educational institution in Middletown, Connecticut, has announced the promotion of six faculty members to the rank of full professor. Four of these six promotions went to women.

Kauanui-Connection-PhotoJ. Kēhaulani Kauanui was promoted to professor of American studies and professor of anthropology. She is the author of Hawaiian Blood: Colonialism and the Politics of Sovereignty and Indigeneity (Duke University Press, 2008).

Professor Kauanui is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, where she majored in women’s studies. She earned a Ph.D. at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Cecilia-MillerCecilia Miller is a new full professor of history at Wesleyan. She joined the faculty at the university in 1991. Professor Miller is the author of Enlightenment and Political Fiction: The Everyday Intellectual (Routledge, 2016).

Professor Miller is a graduate of LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. She holds a master’s degree from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and a Ph.D. from the University of Oxford in England.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAClaudia Tatinge Nascimento was promoted to professor of theater. A native of Brazil, she is the author of Crossing Cultural Borders Through the Actor’s Work: Foreign Bodies of Knowledge (Routledge, 2008).

Dr. Nascimento is a graduate of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She earned a master’s degree at the University of Akron in Ohio and a Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin.

andrea_patalano3Andrea L. Patalano was named a full professor of psychology at Wesleyan University. Before joining the faculty at Wesleyan University, Dr. Patalano taught at Ohio University in Athens.

Professor Patalano earned a bachelor’s degree in cognitive and linguistic sciences from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology from the University of Michigan.
