The board of trustees of the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, has selected Ann Rondeau as the educational institution’s sixth president. When she takes office on July 1, she will be the first woman to lead the college. The public, tw0-year college located just west of Chicago, enrolls nearly 30,000 students. Women make up 53 percent of the student body, according to the most recent U.S. Department of Education data.
Dr. Rondeau currently serves as a consultant and partner with the IBM Watson Group. She has served as a vice admiral in the United States Navy and as president of National Defense University in Washington, D.C.
The College of DuPage was subjected to a spending scandal last year that resulted in the firing of its former president and the placing of the institution on accreditation probation. Charles Bernstein, a member of the college’s board of trustees, stated that Dr. Anderson’s “exceptional background and experience confirm that she will establish trust, she will listen, and she will form coalitions that this college needs to overcome our current challenges and to achieve excellence in all areas.”
Dr. Rondeau is a graduate of the now closed Eisenhower College in Seneca Falls, New York. She holds a master’s degree from Georgetown University and an educational doctorate from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.
