New Administrative Posts for Seven Women in Higher Education

MASIBarbara A. Masi is the new associate vice provost for learning outcomes assessment at Pennsylvania State University. She had been serving as director of education innovation in the Schools of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering at the University of Rochester in New York.

Dr. Masi holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree in materials science and engineering, and a Ph.D. in management and technology, all from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Alonda WilliamsAlonda Williams was appointed director of marketing, community relations, and enrollment management at Bellevue College in Washington State. She was senior director of education marketing at Microsoft Inc. She is a former adjunct professor of marketing at Rutgers University in New Jersey.

Williams is a graduate of Montclair State University in New Jersey and earned an MBA at Rutgers University.

sha_duncan_smithT. Sha Duncan Smith was named associate dean of diversity, inclusion, and community development at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, effective June 1. Currently, she is director of diversity and inclusion at the Ross School of Business of the University of Michigan.

Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a master of social work degree from the University of Michigan. She is pursuing a doctorate in higher education management at the University of Pennsylvania.

mercierNicole Mercier was appointed managing director of the Office of Technology Management at Washington University in St. Louis. She will begin her new job on May 1. She has been with the Office of Technology Management at the university since 2005.

Dr. Mercier is a graduate of Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, where she majored in biology. She holds a Ph.D. in cell biology from the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

thompsonTeri Lucie Thompson was named chief marketing officer at the University of Texas at Austin. She has been serving as chief marketing officer and senior vice president for university relations at the University of Arizona.

Thompson holds a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in education from Illinois State University. She is the co-author of Tuning into Mom: Understanding America’s Most Powerful Consumer (Purdue University Press, 2011).

kkGrayKarol Kain Gray was appointed chief financial officer and vice president for finance and budget at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. She has been serving as CFO at Applied DNA Sciences Inc. in Stony Brook, New York. Earlier, Gray was vice chancellor for finance and administration at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and CFO at Stony Brook University.

Gray is a graduate of Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, where she majored in business administration with a concentration in accounting.

j-greenJanel Marts Green is the new vice president for business and finance at Dillard University in New Orleans. She has been serving in the post on an interim basis since June 1, 2015. She has been on the staff at the university since 2011.

Green is a graduate of the University of New Orleans, where she majored in finance.
