Linda M. Abriola, a University Professor in the department of civil and environmental engineering and the department of chemical and biological engineering at Tufts University in Massachusetts, was named director of the Tufts Institute of the Environment. Professor Abriola is the former dean of the School of Engineering at Tufts. She joined the faculty at the university in 2003 after teaching at the University of Michigan. Professor Abriola is a graduate of Drexel University in Philadelphia. She earned a Ph.D. in civil engineering at Princeton University.
Bridget Burke was appointed director of the American Heritage Center on the campus of the University of Wyoming. Her appointment is effective July 1. Since 2014, Burke has been dean of libraries at North Dakota State University in Fargo. Earlier she held curator posts at Yale University and the University of Alaska at Fairbanks. Burke holds a bachelor’s degree in English and a master of library and information science degree from the University of Wisconsin. She also earned a master’s degree in American history at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.
Diana Gaston is the new director of the Tamarind Institute at the University of New Mexico. The institute is a nonprofit center for fine art lithography at the University of New Mexico Art Museum. She is only the fourth director of the institute in its 55-year history. For the past 12 years, Gaston was the curator for the Fidelity Investment Corporate Art Collection. From 1989 to 1993, she was the curator of prints and photographs for the University of New Mexico Art Museum. Gaston holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in art history from the University of Kansas.
