Johns Hopkins University Releases Survey on Sexual Misconduct on Its Campus

Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore has released the results of a survey on the incidence of sexual misconduct on its campus. The survey was given to more than 12,000 students with graduate students making up a slight majority of all students sent the survey. About 5,000 students responded. Women were more likely than men to respond.

The results showed that 30 percent of undergraduate women reported some unwanted sexual contact while a student at Johns Hopkins. Some 17 percent of undergraduate women reported they had been victims of sexual violence. Eleven percent of undergraduate men reported unwanted sexual contact. Less than 10 percent of graduate men and women reported unwanted sexual contact.

Some 60 percent of all undergraduate women who were victims of unwanted sexual behavior reported that they were incapacitated by drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident.
