Case Western Reserve University to Hold Leadership Lab for Women in Manufacturing

wimlogoThe Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland has teamed up with Women in Manufacturing, a national association dedicated to supporting, promoting and inspiring women who are pursuing or have chosen a career in the manufacturing industry. The partnership will offer the Leadership Lab for Women in Manufacturing on the Case Western Reserve University campus.

The Leadership Lab will offer sessions on bias barriers and opportunities, high-impact leadership, and skills and strategies for leadership in manufacturing. The GE Foundation is supporting the Leadership Lab with scholarships that will allow women from small to mid-size manufacturing companies to attend the sessions.

Among the Case Western Reserve faculty participating in the Leadership Lab are Diana Bilimoria, the KeyBank Professor and chair of the department of organizational behavior, Ellen Van Oosten, assistant professor and faculty director of executive education, and independent consultant and adjunct professor Kathleen Buse, who served as faculty director for an earlier Leadership Lab focused on women in STEM fields.

kathleen_buseDr. Buse notes that “from our past Leadership Labs, we have found that, within six months of finishing the program, 40 percent of the women had sought and obtained a promotion. We look forward to working with WiM members to help them leverage their strengths to achieve continued success in their careers.”

Dr. Buse is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, where she majored in chemical engineering. She holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in management from Case Western Reserve University.
