Four Women Executives in Higher Education Are Leaving Their Posts

barrettMonica C. Barrett, interim senior vice president and general counsel at Rutgers University in New Jersey, has left the university to join the higher education practice of the law firm Bond, Schoeneck & King in New York City. Before joining the staff at Rutgers, Barrett served as executive deputy general counsel for the State University of New York, associate general counsel at Cornell University, and assistant general counsel at Barnard College.

Barrett is a graduate of Wellesley College in Massachusetts, where she majored in philosophy. She earned her law degree at the University of Michigan.

warrenIris E. Harvey is leaving her post as vice president for university relations at Kent State University in Ohio. She will enroll in a leadership training program at Harvard University. Prior to coming to Kent State, she held administrative posts at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, and the University of Maryland.

Harvey holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and an MBA from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.

Theresa_Gordzica_OPT(1)Theresa Gordzica, the chief financial officer at the University of Kansas, is retiring. She has held this post since 1997. Gordzica joined the staff at the university as an assistant in the Office of Business and Fiscal Affairs while she was an undergraduate students.

Gordzica holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA from the University of Kansas.

DebbWhiteDebbie Harmison White, senior associate athletic director for external relations at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, has announced that she will retire this coming June. White has worked for the athletics department at the university for 36 years. She joined the staff in 1979 as assistant sports information director.

White is a graduate of West Virginia University, where she majored in journalism. She holds a master’s degree in education from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
