The University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign has announced the appointment of seven faculty members as University Scholars. The seven faculty members will receive stipends to support their research over the next three years. Four of the seven new University Scholars are women.
Carla Cáceres is a professor of animal biology. She joined the faculty at the university in 2001 and currently serves as director of the School of Integrative Biology. Her research focuses on aquatic ecosystems. Dr. Cáceres is a graduate of the University of Michigan. She holds a Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
Leanne Knobloch is a professor of communication at the University of Illinois. Her research concerns how people in close relationships communicate. Dr. Knobloch joined the faculty at the university in 2002. She is a graduate of St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin. Professor Knobloch holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Arden Rowell is a professor of law who has been on the faculty since 2010. Previously, she was a Bigelow Fellow and lecturer in law at the University of Chicago Law School. Her research is concerned with risk regulation and human behavior with a focus on environmental law. Professor Rowell graduated from the University of Washington at the age of 18 with a degree in anthropology/archaeology. She earned her law degree at the University of Chicago.
With more than 30 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Richtermeyer has spent the past three years as executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost at Rutgers University-Camden
Cheryl Norman was appointed president of Ridgewater College in Minnesota and Ellen Kennedy was named interim president of Cape Cod Community College in Massachusetts.
Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
The selected candidate should have expertise and experience in theoretical models in labor and public economics as well as in microeconometrics and programming.
