Guttman Community College in New York City, a campus of the City University of New York, has announced a new mentoring program for first-year women students. Women of Gratitude, Resilience, Integrity, and Talent (GRIT) will host a series of monthly workshops, enrichment programs, and mentorship opportunities to foster a sense of community and leadership for women on campus. The program will emphasize academic excellence, graduating from college, and encouraging participants to be successful leaders and role models in their respective careers and communities.
Tracy Daraviras, an associate professor of English at Guttman Community College and administrator of the program said that “GRIT will introduce students to professional women to learn about their career paths, while exploring their own. Mentoring is extremely important in helping young women grow in all aspects of their lives.”
