Nine Women Who Have New Administrative Posts in Higher Education

Pamela White, Director for Compliance and Conflict ResolutionPamela D. White was promoted to executive director of equity and access in the department of human resources at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She was director of compliance and conflict resolution and Title IX coordinator. She will continue to handle Title IX responsibilities.

White is the former coordinator of equal opportunity programs at Florida State University. She is a graduate of Florida State and earned a law degree at Nova Southeastern University.

CrottyRRegan Crotty was promoted to Title IX administrator at Princeton University in New Jersey. She was director of student life for Wilson College at Princeton.

Crotty is a graduate of Princeton University and the University of Chicago School of Law.

noraStewartNora Stewart was named chief financial officer at Laredo Community College in Texas. She joined the staff at the college in 2002 as an internal auditor. In January 2014, she was named asset manager and auxiliary officer.

Stewart is a graduate of Texas A&M International University. She holds a master’s degree from American InterContinental University and is completing work on a doctorate in business administration from Argosy University.

harknessSuzan Harkness was appointed vice president for academic affairs at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She has been serving as special assistant to the president of the University of the District of Columbia.

Dr. Harkness is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree from American International University and a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Hawaii.

riplyKate Ripley is the new director of alumni relations and the executive director of the Alumni Association at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. She has been serving as director of public affairs for the University of Alaska System.

Ripley is a graduate of the University of Montana, where she majored in journalism. She holds a master’s degree in northern studies from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.

pantichAlyssa Panitch was named vice provost for faculty affairs at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She is the Leslie A. Geddes Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the university. She joined the Purdue faculty in 2006.

Dr. Panitch holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

harrisCarolyn Harris was appointed director of academic advising for the College of Architecture and Urban Studies at Virginia Tech. She was an administrator for the Division of Architecture and Design at the Rhode Island School of Design.

Harris is a graduate of Rhode Island College and is completing work on a master’s degree in higher education administration at Northeastern University.

sammuelDarlette Carver Samuels was promoted to chief of staff for the president of Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee. She was executive assistant to the president and has served on the college’s staff for 20 years.

Earlier in her career at Lane College, Samuels served as vice president for institutional advancement and director of public relations and public affairs.

Brown_BernadetteBernadette Brown was appointed director of the Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She has been working at the National Council on Crime and Delinquency in California.

Brown is a graduate of Columbia University and the Boston University School of Law.
