Virginia Tech Dean Takes Two-Year Post at the National Science Foundation

Watford-Bevlee Watford, associate dean for academic affairs at the College of Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, has accepted a two-year appointment with the National Science Foundation. She will be the program manager for broadening participation in the engineering education and centers division of the NSF.

Dr. Watford will relinquish her duties as associate dean during her two-year term at the National Science Foundation but will continue in her role as director of the Center for the Enhancement of Engineering Diversity at Virginia Tech.

Dr. Watford has been associate dean at Virginia Tech since 1997. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. in industrial engineering and operations research, all from Virginia Tech.
