In Memoriam: Yinghui Guo

Yinghui Guo, senior lecturer in Asian studies at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on October 25. She was 48 years old.

Dr. Guo’s career in education began teaching Chinese to American students at the C. V. Starr-Middlebury School in China. She joined the Vanderbilt University faculty as a lecturer in 2008. Throughout the past 16 years, she taught courses on modern Chinese language, advanced Chinese, classic Chinese, and Chinese literature. Her scholarship focused on literature and drama in late imperial China. In 2022, she was reappointed as a senior lecturer.

Dr. Guo earned her Ph.D. in Chinese language and literature from Zhejiang University in her hometown of Hangzhou, China.
