Kristin Hutchins, associate professor of chemistry at the University of Missouri, has been honored with the 2025 Rising Star Award from the Women Chemists Committee of the American Chemical Society. The award is presented annually to a mid-career scientist who demonstrates outstanding potential in their field.
Dr. Hutchins joined the University of Missouri faculty last year as an associate professor of chemistry and core faculty member in the Materials Science and Engineering Institute. Prior to her current role, she spent six years on the faculty of the department of chemistry and biochemistry at Texas Tech University.
As a scholar, Dr. Hutchins’ research lies at the intersection of inorganic chemistry, materials research, and organic chemistry. She focuses her work on designing and synthesizing materials by using supramolecular chemistry strategies to achieve desirable properties.
Dr. Hutchins received her bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Iowa.
