A Pair of Women Who Have Been Appointed to Provost Positions

Julie Hurtig has been appointed to serve as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Ohio Northern University in Ada. She has been serving as interim provost since July 2020. Dr. Hurtig joined the College of Engineering faculty in 2000 as an assistant professor. She was promoted to associate professor in 2004 and was named a full professor of electrical and computer engineering in 2011.
Dr. Hurtig took on additional duties as assistant dean for admissions and advising in 2003. She was appointed to the Office of Academic Affairs in 2009 and served as associate vice president for academic affairs from 2011 to 2020.
Dr. Hurtig is a graduate of Ohio Northern University. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Ohio State University.
Kimberly Greer was named interim provost and vice president for academic affairs at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. She has been serving as interim provost at California State University, East Bay. From 2017 to 2021, Dr. Greer was provost and vice president for academic affairs at California State University, Stanislaus.
Prior to moving to California, Dr. Greer served as dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Minnesota State University, Mankato. She held positions as interim associate provost, associate vice president for academic affairs, and was a professor in the department of sociology and corrections at the university.
Dr. Greer earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in administration from Southeast Missouri State University. She holds a Ph.D. in sociology from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
