Three Women Who Have Been Selected to Serve as Provosts

Neslihan Alp was appointed provost and vice president for academic affairs at the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport. She has been serving as dean and professor in the 2,000-student College of Technology at Indiana State University. Earlier, Dr. Alp served on the faculty at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for 19 years.
Dr. Alp holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in industrial engineering from the Univerity of Istanbul in Turkey. She earned a Ph.D. in engineering and industrial management from the Missouri University of Science and Technology.
Andrea Kent has been named provost and executive vice president of the University of South Alabama. She has been serving as interim provost since 2020. Prior to being named interim provost, Dr. Kent served as dean of the College of Education and Professional Studies at the university.
Dr. Kent earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood and elementary education from the University of Mobile. She received her master’s degree in early childhood education and a doctoral degree in instructional design and development from the University of South Alabama.
Anne D’Alleva is the new interim provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at the University of Connecticut. She is the first woman to serve as provost at the University of Connecticut. Since 2015, Dr. D’Alleva has been dean of the School of Fine Arts at the university. She first joined the university’s faculty in the fall of 1999 with a joint appointment in art history and women’s, gender, and sexuality studies.
Dr. D’Alleva earned a bachelor’s degree in art history from Harvard University. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in art history from Columbia University.
