The Harvard Graduate School of Education Adds Three Women to Its Faculty

Bianca Baldridge has been named associate professor of education. She was previously an associate professor in the department of educational policy studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Baldridge’s research explores the sociopolitical context of community-based education and how the confluence of race, class, and gender shapes the experiences of Black and Latinx youth in these settings. She is the author of Reclaiming Community: Race and the Uncertain Future of Youth Work (Stanford University Press, 2019).

Dr. Baldridge is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Teachers College at Columbia University in New York City.

Susan Dynarski is a new professor of education. She was a professor of public policy, education, and economics at the Ford School at the University of Michigan. Professor Dynarski’s research focuses on understanding and reducing inequality in education, looking to assess the effects of charter schools, financial aid, postsecondary schooling, class size, and high school reforms on academic achievement, educational attainment, and long-term outcomes.

Dr. Dynarski holds a bachelor’s degree in social studies and a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University. She earned a Ph.D. in economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Gabrielle Oliveira has been named the Jorge Paulo Lemann Associate Professor of Education and of Brazil studies. She is the author of Motherhood Across Borders: Immigrants and Their Children in Mexico and in New York (New York University Press, 2018).

Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, Dr. Oliveira received a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Teachers College at Columbia University.
