New Deans at the University of California, Berkeley and Helena College

Geeta Anand is the new dean of the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California, Berkeley. She is the first woman to hold the position. Professor Anand began teaching at Berkeley in 2018 and holds the Robert A Peck Chair. She also serves as director of the Investigative Reporting Program.
Professor Anand began her career covering local government in Vermont before going on to become the city hall bureau chief for the Boston Globe, and later serving as a foreign correspondent in India for The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. Professor Anand is a graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, where she majored in history and earned a certificate in women’s studies.
Sandra Bauman has been selected to be dean of Helena College in Montana. She has been serving as acting dean since May. Prior to her appointment as acting dean, Dr. Bauman served as the college’s associate dean for academic and student affairs. Earlier, Dr. Bauman served as director of academic success for Great Falls College in Montana, where she also was an instructor and academic advisor.
Dr. Bauman earned a bachelor’s degree in modern language and a doctorate in adult and higher education from Montana State University in Bozeman. She also holds a master’s degree in public relations from Montana State University-Billings.
