Carol Puryear Appointed President of Tennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro

The Tennessee Board of Regents has announced the appointment of Carol Puryear as president of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro. She has served as interim president since May 2019.
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro enrolls just over 500 students, according to the latest figures supplied to the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up just 36 percent of the student body.
Dr. Puryear joined the University of Tennessee System in 1994. In 2012, she was named associate vice chancellor for instruction and special projects for the colleges of applied technology. In 2017, Dr. Puryear was promoted to vice chancellor of economic and community development for the Tennessee Board of Regents.
Dr. Puryear holds a master’s degree in technical education from Middle Tennessee State University and a doctorate in higher education administration and supervision from Tennessee State University.
