Six Women Join the Faculty at the Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas

Mary Lacity has been appointed professor in the department of information systems and director of the Blockchain Center of Excellence. She previously held visiting positions at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the London School of Economics, Washington University, and Oxford University. Dr. Lacity holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus on quantitative analysis and economics from Pennsylvania State University and a Ph.D. in business administration with a focus on management information systems and quantitative management science from the University of Houston.

Marie Halvorsen-Ganepola has been named clinical assistant professor in the department of management. She was previously a member of the faculty at the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Halvorsen-Ganepola holds two bachelor’s degrees, one in biology and one in genetics, from the University of Kansas, an MBA from the University of Notre Dame, and a Ph.D. in management from the University of Florida.

Sherry Li has been named a professor in the department of economics. Previously she was an associate professor of economics at the University of Texas at Dallas. Dr. Li holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in finance from the University of China in Beijing, a master’s degree in economics from Syracuse University in New York, and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Michigan.

Yujie “Beth” Sude has been named clinical assistant professor in the department of economics. She has been a teaching as a graduate research assistant at the University of Arkansas. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and public administration from Peking University in China, a master’s degree in education economics from Beijing Normal University in China, and a master’s degree in education statistics and psychometrics and a Ph.D. in education policy from the University of Arkansas.

Qin Weng has been named assistant professor in the department of information systems. Dr. Weng holds a Ph.D in business administration from the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. She has conducted research on knowledge mobilization in public health networks.

Amber Young has been named assistant professor in the department of information systems. She was previously an assistant professor of operations and information management at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Dr. Young holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary mathematics education and a Ph.D. in management information systems from the University of Oklahoma, and an MBA in leadership and organizational development from Oklahoma Christian University.
