Four Women Scholars Are Appointed to Dean Positions

Pamela Holland Obiomon, a professor of electrical and microelectronic engineering at Prairie View A&M University in Texas, was named dean of the Roy G. Perry College of Engineering at the university. Dr. Obiomon has been on the faculty at Prairie View A&M University since 2003 and served as department chair since 2013. Earlier, she taught at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York.

Professor Obiomon holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. She earned a master’s degree in engineering from Prairie View A&M University and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University.

Rebecca C. McMullen was named dean of the College of Education and Professional Studies at Fort Valley State University in Georgia. She has served as interim dean for the past two years,

A native of Columbus, Georgia, Dr. McMullen is a graduate of Mercer University in Macon, where she majored in special education. She holds a master’s degree in learning disabilities from Augusta Regents University and a doctorate in teacher preparation and learning disabilities from Georgia State University in Atlanta.

Laura Ray, a professor of engineering, will serve as interim dean of the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. Dr. Ray has been on the faculty at the engineering school for 22 years. She is scheduled to serve as interim dean from October 29, 2018 to June 30, 2019.

Professor Ray is a graduate of Princeton University in New Jersey, where she majored in mechanical and aerospace engineering. She holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Princeton.

Alicia J Jackson was named interim dean of the College of Professional Studies at Albany State University in Georgia. Since 2015, she has been serving as dean of the College of Business at the university. Earlier, she was an associate professor of management and dean of the School of Business at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. From 1999 to 2007, Dr. Jackson was dean of the College of Business and Information Science at Tuskegee University in Alabama.

Dr. Jackson is a graduate of Knox College in Illinois, where she majored in mathematics. She holds an MBA in accounting from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.
