Syracuse University’s Marcelle Haddix Wins Outstanding Book Award From AACTE

Marcelle HaddixMarcelle M. Haddix, Dean’s Associate Professor and chair of the department of reading and language arts in the School of Education at Syracuse University in New York, has been chosen to receive the 2018 Outstanding Book Award from the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE). Based in Washington, D.C., AACTE is an alliance of 800 colleges and universities with educator preparation programs.

Dr. Haddix is being honored for her book Cultivating Racial and Linguistic Diversity in Literacy Teacher Education: Teachers Like Me (Routledge, 2015). Dr. Haddix will be honored at the association’s 70th annual meeting in Baltimore.

Dr. Haddix, who joined the faculty at Syracuse University in 2008, is graduate of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, where she majored in English education. She holds a master’s degree in education from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a Ph.D. in education from Boston College.
