A Quartet of New Deans at Colleges and Universities

Raquel Alexander was named the inaugural dean of the College of Management at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. When she take office in July, she will also hold the title of the Kenneth W. Freeman Professor. Dr. Alexander is the associate dean of the Williams School of Commerce, Economics, and Politics at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.

Before joining the faculty at Washington and Lee University in 2012, Dr. Alexander taught at the University of Kansas. She holds a Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.

Donna K. Farrell was appointed interim dean of the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She has been a member of the faculty at the university since 1994 and has been associate dean of the college for the past four years. Dr. Farrell is also chair of the department of finance.

Professor Farrell is a graduate of Kent State University in Ohio. She earned a Ph.D. in finance at the University of Georgia.

Donna K. Maeda was named the next dean of the Institute for Global Citizenship at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. She will become dean on July 15, 2017. Dr. Maeda currently serves as a professor in department of critical theory and social justice at Occidental College in Los Angeles.

Professor Maeda is a graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. She earned a law degree at the University of California, Berkeley and a Ph.D. at the University of Southern California.

Laurie Shanderson has been appointed the founding dean of the new School of Health Science at Northcentral University, a global online institution focusing on graduate education. She has been serving as associate dean in the School of Health Sciences at Stockton University in Galloway Township, New Jersey.

Dr. Shanderson is a graduate of the University at Buffalo of the State University of New York System. She earned a master of public administration degree from Pace University and a Ph.D. in health services from Walden University.
