A Trio of Women Scholars Appointed to Positions as Deans

Carolyn Ma was named dean of the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. She has been serving as interim dean of the college for the past year. Ma joined the staff at the university in 2007 as a clinical education coordinator.
Dean Ma earned a doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of California, San Francisco and completed a clinical pharmacy residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Kris Winter will be the next dean of students at the University of Oregon. She will begin her new job on September 19. Dr. Winter has been serving as interim dean of student life at Oregon State University.
Dr. Winter is a graduate of the University of Oregon, where she majored in educational studies. She holds a master’s degree in college student services administration from Oregon State University and an educational doctorate from Portland State University.
Renee Middleton was appointed to a new five-year term as dean of the Patton College of Education at Ohio University in Athens. She has served in this post since 2006.
Dr. Middleton is a graduate of Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee and a doctorate in rehabilitation administration from the College of Education at Auburn University in Alabama.
