Another Major Award for Berkeley’s Jennifer Doudna

Jennifer DoudnaJennifer Doudna, the Li Ka Shing Professor of Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Structural Biology at the University of California, Berkeley, has been selected to receive the 2016 Dickson Prize in Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh. Professor Doudna will be honored at the Science 2016 – Game Changers conference in Pittsburgh this coming October.

Professor Doudna is being honored for her groundbreaking research harnessing an ancient mechanism of bacterial immunity into a powerful and general technology for editing genomes, with wide-ranging implications across biology and medicine. In recent years, Dr. Doudna has received the Heineken Prize, the Canada Gairdner Award, the L’Oreal UNESCO Women in Science Award, the Gruber Genetics Prize, the Lurie Prize in Biomedical Sciences, and several other major awards.

Dr. Doudna is a graduate of Pomona College in Claremont, California. She holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University.
