Julia Jasken Appointed Provost at McDaniel College in Maryland

Julia Jasken has been promoted to provost and chief academic officer at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland. She also serves as dean of the faculty. Dr. Jasken joined the English department faculty at the college in 2003. She has served as associate provost and director of the college’s Center for Experience and Opportunity.
According to the latest U.S. Department of Education statistics, McDaniel College enrolls 1,740 undergraduate students and 1,466 graduate students. Women make up 54 percent of the student body.
A native of Moorhead, Minnesota, Dr. Jasken is a graduate of the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, Minnesota, where she majored in English language and literature. She earned a master’s degree in rhetoric and women’s studies at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb and a Ph.D. in rhetoric and technical communication from Michigan Technological University in Houghton.
