The Next President of Cuyamaca College in California

The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District has chosen Julianna Barnes as president of Cuyamaca College in El Cajon, California. She will take office on October 5. The college, located east of San Diego, enrolls about 8,600 students. Women make up 53 percent of the student body.
Since 2013, Dr. Barnes has been serving as vice president of student services at San Diego Mesa College. Previously, she was vice president of student services at Cuyamaca College.
A native of San Diego, Dr. Barnes was the first person in her immediate family to enroll in college. She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of California, San Diego and a master’s degree and a doctorate in educational leadership from San Diego State University.
