In Memoriam: Kim West

Kim West, the associate dean for undergraduate programs at the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, died on July 18 after a short illness.
West was a native of Cleveland, Ohio, but grew up in Massachusetts and Connecticut. She earned a bachelor’s degree in history and American studies at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. She held a master’s degree from Columbia University and a doctorate in higher education from the University of Southern California.
Dr. West began her career in higher education as the residence hall director at Stony Brook University in New York.. In 1985, she was named associate director of residence life at the University of Southern California. From 1990 to 2002, Dr. West served as director of residence life at the California Institute of Technology. She then returned to USC as an associate professor of clinical education. Dr. West was named associate dean in 2007.
