Suzanne Shipley Is One of Three Finalists for President of Midwestern State University in Texas

Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, has announced three finalists for president of the university. One of the three finalists is a woman.
Suzanne Shipley is currently president of Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, a liberal arts institution that enrolls about 4,200 students. She has held that post since 2007. She previously served on the faculty at the University of Cincinnati, was dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, and was dean of the faculty at Notre Dame of Maryland University.
Dr. Shipley holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. She earned a Ph.D. in German from the University of Texas.
Update: On March 10, Dr. Shipley was named the sole finalist for the position. Under Texas law the university’s board of regents must wait 21 days before making the appointment official.
