Bettie A. Truitt Appointed President of Black Hawk College in Moline, Illinois

Bettie-TruittThe board of trustees of Black Hawk College in Moline, Illinois, has named Bettie A Truitt president of the educational institution. Black Hawk College enrolls about 6,500 students. Women are 59 percent of the student body.

Dr. Truitt joined the faculty at the college in 1989 as an instructor of mathematics. From 2007 to 2012, she was dean of instruction and academic support. She was promoted to vice president of instruction in 2012 and was named executive vice president in June of this year. She has served as interim president of the college since July.

Dr. Truitt earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. She holds a master’s degree in school mathematics from Iowa State University and a Ph.D. in mathematics education with concentration areas in statistics, higher education, and policy and planning from the University of Iowa.
