Colleges and Universities Announce the Appointment of Nine Women to High-Level Administrative Posts

Marilyn Lockhart is the new director of the Center for Faculty Excellence at Montana State University. Dr. Lockhart, an associate professor of education at the university, has been serving as interim director of the center since its establishment three years ago.
Dr. Lockhart is a graduate of Bridgewater College in Virginia. She holds a master’s degree in educational psychology from Arizona State University and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Virginia.
Frances Welch was promoted to director of student support services at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She has been on the staff of student support services since 2000 and has served as assistant director since 2008.
Welch is a graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, where she majored in sociology. She holds a master’s degree in student personnel services/counseling from Northwestern State University.
Tina D. Rollins was named director of the William R. and Norma B. Harvey Library at Hampton University in Virginia. She was the assistant director of technical services at the library. Before joining the staff at Hampton University, Rollins was the collection development librarian at Alabama State University in Montgomery.
Rollins is a graduate of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. She holds a master of library science degree from North Carolina Central University in Durham.
Catherine Pope was named Title IX coordinator at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. She was the deputy Title IX coordinator and managing director of the Butler Center for Leadership Excellence at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
A graduate of the University of Dayton in Ohio, Pope holds master’s degrees from Indiana University and Iowa State University.
Kalenda Eaton was named director of Global Learning at Arcadia University in Glenside, Pennsylvania. She joined the faculty at Arcadia University in 2010 and is an associate professor of English. She is the author of Womanism, Literature, and the Transformation of the Black Community (Routledge, 2008).
Dr. Eaton is a graduate of Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana. She earned master’s and doctoral degrees at Ohio State University.
Karen McComas was appointed interim director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. She had been serving as assistant director of the center.
Dr. McComas has served on the faculty at the university since 1986. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in speech pathology and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction, all from Marshall University.
Yvonne M. Coston was named vice president of research and innovative programming at Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina. She has been serving as a professor of mathematics at the university. She has been on the university’s faculty since 1985.
Dr. Coston is a graduate of Fayetteville State University in North Carolina. She holds master’s degrees in statistics and mathematics education and a doctorate in mathematics education from North Carolina State University.
Mary Paster was appointed associate dean of Pomona College in Claremont, California. She is an associate professor and chair of the department of linguistics and cognitive science at the college, where she has served on the faculty since 2006.
Dr. Paster is a summa cum laude graduate of Ohio State University. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of California, Berkeley.
Tami Benham Deal was named interim associate vice president for academic personnel at the University of Wyoming. She is a professor in the university’s Division of Kinesiology and Health and associate dean of academic affairs for the College of Health Sciences. She has been on the faculty at the university since 1989.
Professor Deal holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, all from Indiana University.
