In Memoriam: Hillary Gravendyk, 1979-2014

Hillary Gravendyk, a poet and an assistant professor of English at Pomona College in Claremont, California, died on May 11 after a long illness. She was 35 years old.
Dr. Gravendyk joined the Pomona College faculty in 2009 and taught courses on poetry, creative writing, and literature. She was the author of the poetry collections The Naturalist (Achiote Press, 2008) and Harm (Omnidawn Press, 2011).
A graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans, Dr. Gravendyk earned a master’s degree at the University of Washington and a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley.
