Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, has announced a large number of promotions of faculty members to the rank of full professor. Included among the promotions are those of 21 women.
Nicolletta Adamo-Villani was named professor of computer graphics in the College of Technology. An award-winning animator, Professor Adamo-Villani holds a master of architecture degree from the University of Florence in Italy.
Emily C. Bouck was appointed professor of educational studies. She is a graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Professor Bouck holds a master of social work degree from the University of Michigan and a doctorate in special education from Michigan State University.
Angela A. Duran was promoted to professor of English in the College of Liberal Arts. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of California at Berkeley and a Ph.D. from Stanford University. She is the author of The Age of Milton and The Scientific Revolution (Duquesne University Press, 2007).
Annabelle Feng was named professor of management in the Krannert School of Management at Purdue. She has served on the Purdue University faculty since 2012. Dr. Feng is a graduate of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China. She holds a Ph.D. in operations management from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Jessica E. Huber is a new professor of speech, language, and hearing sciences. She has served on the Purdue University faculty since 2001. A graduate of Saint John Fisher College in Rochester, New York, Dr. Huber earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University at Buffalo of the State University of New York system.
Christine A. Hrycyna was promoted to full professor of chemistry. She has been a faculty member at Purdue since 2000. A graduate of Middlebury College in Vermont, Professor Hrycyna earned a Ph.D. at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Caroline E. Janney was appointed professor of history in the College of Liberal Arts. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Janney earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. at the University of Virginia. She is the author of Burying the Dead but Not the Past: Ladies’ Memorial Associations and the Lost Cause (University of North Carolina Press, 2007) and Remembering the Civil War: Reunion and the Limits of Reconciliation (University of North Carolina Press, 2013).
Xinran Y. Lehto was named professor of hospitality and tourism management. Professor Lehto earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Beijing University in China. She holds a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. in forestry from Purdue University.
Sophie A. Lelievre was appointed professor of basic medical sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine. She has taught at Purdue since 2000. Professor Lelievre is a graduate of the University of Louvain in Belgium. She holds a doctorate of veterinary medicine from the University of Liege in Belgium and a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in cancer pharmacology from the University of Paris.
Maria I. Marshall was promoted to full professor of agricultural economics. She has been a member of the Purdue University faculty since 2003. Dr. Marshall is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She earned a master’s degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a Ph.D. in agricultural economics from Kansas State University.
Joanne B. Messick was named professor of comparative pathobiology in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Purdue. She has been on the university’s faculty since 2006. A graduate of Salisbury University in Maryland, Dr. Messick holds a Ph.D. from Ohio State University.
Sarah A. Mustillo was appointed professor of sociology in the College of Liberal Arts. Her research focuses on parenting and family structure and the mental health of children. Dr. Mustillo earned a Ph.D. at Duke University. She has been on the Purdue faculty since 2007.
Venetria K. Patton was named full professor of English and African American studies. She joined the faculty at the university in 2003. Professor Patton is a graduate of the University of La Verne in California and holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of California at Riverside. She is the author of Women in Chains: The Legacy of Slavery in Black Women’s Fiction (State University of New York Press 2000).
Anita Roychoudhury was promoted to professor of curriculum and instruction in the College of Education at Purdue. She is a graduate of the Calcutta University in India. She earned a master’s degree at Miami University of Ohio and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Indiana University.
Deborah E. Rupp was named professor of psychology at in the College of Health and Human Sciences. She has taught at Purdue since 2011 after teaching at the University of Illinois. She serves as editor of the Journal of Management. Professor Rupp holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of West Florida in Pensacola. She earned a Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology from California State University.
Maria Soledad Sepulveda was appointed full professor of forestry and natural resources. She has been on the Purdue faculty since 2004. Professor Sepulveda earned a doctorate in veterinary medicine at the University of Chile. She holds a master’s degree in wildlife ecology and a Ph.D. in toxicology and veterinary science from the University of Florida.
Preeti M. Sivasankar was promoted to professor of speech, language, and hearing sciences. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Bombay in India. Professor Sivasankar earned a Ph.D. in communication sciences and disorders from Northwestern University.
Jun Xie was appointed professor of statistics in the College of Science. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Peking University in China and holds a Ph.D. in statistics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Yan Ping Xin was named professor of educational studies in the College of Education. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from East China Normal University. Dr Xin earned a second master’s degree and a doctorate in special education at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Xiaoyan Zhang is a new professor of management at the Krannert School of Management. She taught at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, from 2002 to 2010 before joining the Purdue University faculty. A graduate of Beijing University, Dr. Zhang earned a Ph.D. in finance at Columbia University.
Melinda S. Zook was appointed professor of history in the College of Liberal Arts. She earned a Ph.D. at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Professor Zook is the author of Radical Whigs and Conspiratorial Politics in Late Stuart England (Pennsylvania State University Press, 1999) and Protestantism, Politics and Women in Britain, 1660-1714 (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013).
